The University of Utah is seeking to hire an outstanding tenure-track faculty member in biomedical computing and simulation. The position is a joint effort between the Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute and the Department of Bioengineering or another College of Engineering Department serving as the tenure home. Ideal candidates have backgrounds in biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, or related fields. The SCI Institute has established itself as an internationally recognized leader in visualization, scientific computing, and image analysis applied to a broad range of application domains. The Department of Bioengineering is one of the oldest and most recognized departments of its type, with 25 primary faculty, over 100 auxiliary faculty, ~150 graduate students and graduating 60-80 Bachelor of Science students annually. It is a research intensive department closely affiliated with health sciences. The department has access to wide collaboration opportunities and state-of-the-art research facilities housed in internationally recognized institutes across the campus including the Sorenson Molecular Biotechnology Building, SCI Institute, Neuroscience Initiative, Nano Institute, Huntsman Cancer Institute, School of Medicine, Utah Population Data Base, and Nora Eccles Harrison CardioVascular Research and Training Institute.
